lets talk about the car.
Hello again,
SO, in my last post i mentioned that i had a car. and i do, i have a lovely Lotus Emira supercharged V6 Manual on the touring suspension set up in nimbus grey. And im very lucky to have her. She is a symbol, (although relatively modest by todays standards), of 20 years of hard work in my previous role. i love everything that car represents to me and its a reminder that hard work does pay off. i know there are faster, BETTER, more expensive cars out there but the emira is one of those cars that when launched i instantly said to myself “one day i will get one of those”
what i didnt realise, was that post launch until the time where i was ready to buy, the list price had risen by a good £20k and it all started to feel a little tight. SO, i turned to the used market and found this little gem sitting at 1000 miles (it had literally been run in for me) at A company called VVS out in kent. the car was exactly the spec i was after. Nimbus grey on black rims with silver brake calipers, full black pack and black leather interior.
after one visit, she was mine.
Some stats:
3.5-liter supercharged V6 (from Toyota).
Power: 400 hp, Torque: 420 NM 0-60 mph: Around 4.0 seconds
Top Speed: Approximately 180 mph (290 km/h) Transmission: 6-speed manual Weight: Approx. 1,405 kg
SO, whats the plan?
like i said in the last post i intend to shoot this car as much as I can, I've set myself the goal of at least one shoot every week. i think the key to becoming a better photographer is to shoot as much as possible. so this is what I'm going to do. the car is a looker, it just doesn’t have a bad angle, the guys at lotus really did a great job designing this car and i intend to explore it as much as i can in these early days. I'm lucky because i can work with it, without the pressure that comes with shooting other peoples cars, i can take my time to practise and it forces me to think, “how can i make the next shoot different?” which pushes me to explore different techniques, angles, set ups and locations. like how artists will paint the same model over and over again in the quest for perfecting their skills.
i also want to drive! road trips are something i haven’t done yet. i want to explore what the car is capable of and ill take you guys along for that journey too. i have a trip planned to the Peake district which hopefully will give me the driving i crave and plenty of photography opportunities too. and then who knows, id love to take it up to the Scottish highlands and then down into Europe for some of those mountain roads where i think the car will really shine.
